GAH-AWARDS BEGINS ANOTHER JOURNEY TO RAISE (₦700,000,000) IN SKILL ACQUISITION FUNDS TO EMPOWER 1000 WOMEN AND YOUTH IN 2023 THROUGH GMYT FOUNDATION IN CELEBRATION OF ITS 1OTH ANNIVERSARY.

Over the years, the GAH-AWARDS initiative has directly achieved (9 of 17) SDGs. These are evident in the empowerment of over three thousand (3,000) women and youth through the GMYT SME support scheme, empowered over twelve thousand naira (12,000) women and youths with free scholarships to study fashion design, and entrepreneurship development, and the provision of over three thousand (3,000) industrial/domestic sewing machines through GMYT Foundation. Recognizing and encouraging humanitarians both in Non-Governmental Organizations and For-profit corporations through GAH-AWARDS, and actively partnering with stakeholders in the last decade to achieve these goals.

This year, on the occasion of its 10th anniversary of social impact, GAH-AWARDS will also be recognizing and encouraging humanitarian organizations/individuals championing charitable courses all over the world on the 9th of December 2022.

GAH-AWARDS intends to also kick off the empowerment program with empowerments worth fifty-six million naira only (₦56,000,000) which will include skill acquisition tuition fees, start-up funds, sewing machines, and partnership investment, among other things. These empowerments will be given to one hundred (100) emerging designers who are passionate about becoming fashion entrepreneurs on the event day.

For the 2023 goal, GAH-AWARDS aims to raise seven hundred million naira (₦700,000,000) in partnership with GMYT Fashion Academy to provide free hybrid skill-acquisition training, hostel accommodations, start-up capitals, empowerment sewing machines, and other services to one thousand women (1000) women and youth through the GMYT Foundation. GAHAWARDS will also host the 10th Graduation Ceremony of GMYT Fashion Academy, featuring over two hundred (200) fashion entrepreneurs debuting in 2023.

Princess Kelechi Oghene, Founder and MD/CEO of the GMYT Group has always maintained that skill acquisition is the answer to Nigeria’s socio-economic gap in the international space as well as the remedy for gender-based violence in the country. With the GAHAWRDS initiative channeled through GMYT Foundation, a large percentage of Nigerian unemployed youths will be emancipated from crime, violence, discrimination, and other social vices.

Thus, GAH-AWARDS is using this medium to call for sustainable partnership and sponsorship from government agencies, private corporations, individuals, and NGOs to champion the exceptional initiative towards eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing inequality, ensuring sustainable cities and communities, encouraging/actioning on industry innovation and infrastructure, promoting decent work and economic growth and finally creating a sustainable partnership to achiving the goals of training ten thousand (10,000) women and youth on or before 2030.
